The mission of the Bipolar Trials Network (BTN) is to improve the care of people with bipolar disorders by conducting timely, state-of-the-art research that guides clinicians while maintaining the highest scientific and ethical standards.
BTN incorporates an independent National Coordinating Center, Data Coordinating Center, high quality, experienced research sites and investigators, and standardized methods and operations to facilitate high yield clinical and translational research to improve the lives of patients with bipolar disorders. The Director (Andrew Nierenberg, MD) leads the overall BTN as well as the National Coordinating Center (NCC), comprising the core of the BTN infrastructure. The Harvard Clinical Research Institute (HCRI), an academic clinical research organization, coordinates many of the functions of the Data Coordinating Center (DCC).
The BTN Logo: The sun and moon allude to the cyclical nature of bipolar disorder and the mission of the BTN: enduring commitment to clinical research on behalf of patients with bipolar disorder and their families.
